A grab bar must provide reliable support at the right location and in the direction the user needs.

Fixed grip at an assessed location. Verify length, grasp diameter, wall clearance and substrate.

Horizontal and vertical grip zones support movements that change direction.

Folds away when not in use. Verify pivot, retention, fixing structure and lateral clearance.

Requires a smooth, non-porous surface and ongoing suction checks. It must not be assumed to replace a fixed rail.
